Watch this.
I was stuck on the timing of the double haul until I watched this a couple years ago. Took me about 10 minutes of practicing this until it clicked.
Now, it's second nature to me.

I proclaimed this year as the year of the double haul for myself. I was going to learn how to doulbe haul no matter what. So all winter long all i did when i was standing in one place in my house was practice that "downup" motion with my air rod. Sure enough, my first time on the water, i had it down. It seems so diffucult at first, but it just goes to show you, muscle memory is the name of the game. Now i have trouble casting without a double haul!

Actually, it was this video that made me realize i needed to learn how to double haul. If a nine year old can double, i should learn as well, hahaha!
