The show is on the decline, a lot less vendors and many big names in the muskie world were not even present.
The buzz this year was Cedar Lake because Saric had fished there.

That guy with the snake was Vince Weirick. Woz and I did the video editing for him. I met him about 3 years ago fishing for musky and have been buddies with him since. Good rods

depends on who you're talking to really...
Most of these companies that attend these shows are going in with personal money. A grand is a lot of money for a 10x10 space for these small companies. The companies I work with (my company design and builds the booths for tradeshows) are spending anywhere between 5k and 1mil for a booth at a 3 day show. The difference is that the money isn't personal.
Shimano, for example, looks at the fees here and doesn't think twice about it. Migizi fishing rods looks at it and gets a bit nauseas and really has to think about the investment.
So, "too much for a a booth spot" is quite relative.

Very true, but a lots and lots of musky companies are relatively small. They should have different prices for guides too.

For instance the Schaumburg show and the Milwaukee and Madison shows are 1k for a 10x10

Last year that was all we had in the bank and we really had to sit down and see if it was worth spending every dime we had for the show.
